We know that when it comes to choosing a concert there are many other orchestras in Poland which you could choose. Obviously, there are also many good reasons to just stay at home. So why should you choose the Ebląg Chamber Orchestra? There are at least three reasons:

Passion. For us, the orchestra is something more than just a workplace - it is rather an area of artistic research and creative development. Music is our great passion, everything what we are doing, reflects our conviction that great art permanently contribute to enrich our lives.

Freshness. We wait for every new challenge with impatience, every performance is exciting and special for us.

Happiness. How often you can see orchestra smiling on the stage? We do it frequently. Our job makes us very happy and we want to share this joy with you.

MISSION

The Elblag Chamber Orchestra is an institution that satisfies recipient's needs in the chamber and symphonic music field.

The Orchestra musicians' artistry is known at home and abroad. Diverse, wide and prize program, excellent soloists' and conductors' performances, highly prized artistic and educational values of shown concerts in indisputable way enhance image of Elbląg and its region.

We take the most care of preparation children and teenagers to perception of music and attract new music lovers.

We want to function as a guide and a friend who can show eternal values of art, teach how to recognize the beauty in music and inspire in mere develop of musical interests.

We want to have our own contribution in creating united european cultural space.

THE ELBLAG CHAMBER ORCHESTRA

Based in Elbląg, northern Poland, the city’s chamber orchestra is one of Poland’s youngest ensembles of this kind. Founded in October 2007, it brings together young, talented graduates of the Music Academy in Gdańsk, prizewinners of solo and chamber music competitions, most of whom had started their musical education in the State Music Schools in Elbląg. For all of them music is a great passion and work in the orchestra is an important stage in their creative development and artistic explorations.

The Elbląg Chamber Orchestra has worked with many prominent conductors and soloists, including Jerzy Maksymiuk, Andrzej Mysiński, Jan Stanienda, Marek Moś, Kai Bumann, Krzysztof Jakowicz, Wiesław Kwaśny, and representatives of the young generation of musicians – Agata Szymczewska, Michał Nesterowicz, Piotr Pławner, Marcin Zdunik, Robert Kabara, Łukasz Długosz, Adam Klocek and Zbigniew Pilch. The orchestra has a broad repertoire, spanning music from the Baroque to the present, from the music of Arcangelo Corelli to works by Witold Lutosławski, Wojciech Kilar and Henryk Mikołaj Górecki. It also performs compositions which blendavant-garde music with jazz and pop, appearing with Leszek Możdżer, Krzesimir Dębski, Adam Sztaba, Grzegorz Turnau, Dorota and Henryk Miśkiewicz and the groups Motion Trio and Raz Dwa Trzy.

The orchestra has taken part in many prestigious events, including those of international calibre, such as the 39th anniversary of the December 1970 workers’ protest on the Baltic coast (organized by the European Solidarity Centre in Gdańsk), the Festival of Sacred Music in Gdynia (2009, 2010, 2011), a concert to mark the beatification of Pope John Paul II (Bach’s Mass in B minor) and the 37th ‘Let’s Sing Poetry’ Castle Meetings produced by Polish Television’s Channel II and Kultura Channel (TVP Kultura).

The Elbląg Chamber Orchestra draws on the rich musical heritage of old Elbląg, continuing the traditions of local musicians of the first half of the 20th century. The recent discovery and performance, in November 2011, of the Cello Concerto Op.38 by Johann Benjamin Groß, born in Elbląg in 1809, met with fine reception among music lovers.

The orchestra received awards from the President of Elbląg (2009) and the Marshal of the Warmia - Mazurian Province (2010).
